63 acres of govt land reclaimed in Bengaluru urban dist

The Bengaluru Urban district authorities on Friday reclaimed 63 acre and 33 gunta of government land worth Rs 95 crore.

The biggest operation of the day was in the Bengaluru North (Additional) taluk where the district authorities removed encroachment on Amanikere, spread across 13 acre and 18 gunta in survey number one of Jala hobli in BK Halli. Some unscrupulous people had fenced the lake and put up a structure.

The district authorities had served notices on the encroachers asking them to vacate the place. When the encroachment was not removed, the district authorities launched an operation to clear the encroachment.

In Gundur village of Bidarahalli hobli in Bengaluru East taluk, at least eight acre of government land, including a tank spread across four acre and 24 gunta was freed
from encroachment.

In Channasandra village of Uttarahalli hobli of Bengaluru South taluk, some people had erected shanties on one acre of government land, which were also removed.

The land value is estimated to be Rs 20 crore.

In Anekal taluk, a seven-acre tank in Bommanahalli and two acre of pasture land and an 8.20 acre tank in Ramanaikanahalli were cleared of encroachment.

The district authorities also reclaimed two more tanks, a cremation ground and some other pasture land in the taluk. The total property recovered is claimed to be worth Rs 40 crore.

The district authorities said that they would intensify their action in the coming days if the encroachers do not vacate government properties.
