Revamping her auburn curls

Oscar-winning actress Nicole Kidman has come a full circle after experimenting with a number of hairstyles during her two-decade-long career. The 42-year-old appeared at the Screen Actors Guild Awards in Los Angeles in an Aztec-inspired gown and flowing auburn curls, the same style she wore to the 1994 Oscars as a 26-year-old up-and-coming star.
In recent years, Kidman has favoured long blonde styles. “How do you cope working in an industry that refuses to let women age naturally and gracefully? Well, I just worked with Sophia Loren and she is so gorgeous. I use her as a role model,” Kidman has earlier said. Her hair may have been a hit, but her outfit was panned by fashion critics. It was a surprise given that the Hollywood star has long been a Vogue favourite having appeared on the cover numerous times during her 20-year career, most recently in July to promote her film Australia.
Although not individually nominated for an award, Kidman’s recent film Nine, a musical romantic film starring Sophia Lauren, Cotillard, Hudson and Cruz, was up for ‘Outstanding Performance by a Cast in an Motion Picture’. The film lost to Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds.

Going the plastic way?
It’s usually her revealing outfits which attract most attention. But this time no garment could draw attention away from pop star Cheryl Cole’s oversized lips. The X-Factor judge’s mouth looked unusually plump as she arrived at an event prompting speculation that she has used Collagen injections.
Cole’s representative has denied this was the case. But the Girls Aloud singer was seen trying to cover up her mouth with her hand as she walked through the airport. When she did reveal her face, her normally slim lips appeared to have swelled, stated reports.
Collagen is a natural protein which can be injected into the lips as a way of making them fuller. Implants are becoming increasingly common with patients as it is a relatively cheap and simple procedure.
In November last year, 26-year-old Cole was accused of misleading her fans after it was revealed that she had starred in a number of advertisements for a popular shampoo company, despite denying that she used hair extensions.

All is not well!
It seems like 2009 went ‘extra well’ for Sonu Nigam, starting with chart busters like Soniyo and Chiggy Wiggy and ending with songs from 3 Idiots like All Izz Well and Zooby Dooby. However, all is not so well with the singer’s health unfortunately.
He was admitted to an undisclosed hospital due to low blood pressure, fatigue and minor slipped disc and has been advised complete bed rest for a few days. Sonu is also suffering from tennis elbow in both his arms and is currently undergoing treatment for that as well. Sonu’s main concern and worry now, is his forthcoming set of tours to be held in Singapore and Israel.
He is doing everything he can to get back on his feet as soon as possible. We wish one of India’s most popular singers a speedy recovery.

‘Hrithik is my superhero’
He overshadowed superstar Aamir Khan with his power-packed performance in debut Taare Zameen Par and now child star Darsheel Safary wants to work with Hrithik Roshan, whom he considers his superhero in Bollywood. “Hrithik Roshan is my superhero in Bollywood. He is a good dancer, has a very good body and is a great actor. I really want to work with him,” said Darsheel.
After his critically-acclaimed performance in the 2007 movie, the 13-year-old actor is returning to the big screen with Walt Disney India’s superhero film Zokkomon. Directed by Satyajit Bhatkal, the film is India’s first live action film and will hit the screens on May 7. Darsheel is excited to be a part of the exclusive superhero club that also includes his idol Hrithik, famed for his superhero role in Krrish. “It’s cool to be a superhero and it feels really good to be in the category of superheroes. In real life, I need to complete my studies first but when I complete them, then why not be a superhero. I even had a good dream of saving someone,” Darsheel joked.
Taare Zameen Par turned the young actor into an instant superstar but Darsheel decided to take a sabbatical to concentrate on his education. “TZP was released in 2007 but I had to concentrate on my studies. Zokkomon attracted me because it was always my dream to play to play a superhero.”

From a vampire to an old man
Gollywood hunk Robert Pattinson is all set to star alongside Sean Penn in Water For Elephants, a movie based on the novel by Sara Gruen. Reese Witherspoon, 33, is already on board for adaptation, which is being penned by PS I Love You writer Richard LaGravenese and directed by I Am Legend helmer Francis Lawrence.
Pattinson, who shot to fame after playing the brooding vampire Edward Cullen in Twilight, is tipped to portray the central character of Jacob Jankowski. The movie is about Jankowski’s experiences in a travelling circus called The Benzini Brothers Most Spectacular Show on Earth.
Set during the Great Depression of 1930s, the novel sees Jacob falling for the wife of the animal trainer to be played by Witherspoon, who torments the animals and the circus staff. Since the story is told in flashbacks, Penn is likely to play the old, nostalgic and prosthetics-slathered Jacob.
