The Special Investigation Team (SIT) officials on Thursday searched eight premises belonging to three accused – Ashok Kumar, M B Srinivasa Gowda and Shankare Gowda – arrested in connection with corruption in the Lokayukta office.

The SIT officials obtained the search warrant from the Lokayukta special court and deployed different teams to search the premises.

Srinivasa Gowda’s hotel in Chandra Layout police limits, an apartment on Magadi Road, Shankare Gowda’s residence in Kempapura, another premises in Basaveshwaranagar, and two premises belonging to Srinivasa Gowda at Narasapura in Kolar were searched by the SIT police.

“The searches will continue on Friday as well. Electronic gadgets, including mobile phones and laptops, and other documents will be seized for further investigation,” a source said.

Sources said the SIT officials were on the lookout for other agents who were in touch with Y Ashwin, son of Lokayukta Justice Y Bhaskar Rao, and Joint Commissioner, Lokayukta (PRO), Syed Riyaz. The sources said Riyaz had sent his revised leave application to the Lokayukta registrar along with his air tickets. The SIT officials did not reveal whether Riyaz had returned from Mecca and Ashwin had not left the country.

“We are questioning the accused arrested so far and are taking their statements. The investigation will continue further after the questioning and recording of the statements,” an official said.
