With the home appliances segment set to register more than 20 per cent growth in 2010, the FMCG major is keen on a higher share of the pie.
Briefing reporters Vice-President (Asia South) Shantanu Das Gupta said “We’re selling less than one lakh units every year at the moment. We intend to take it up to 3 lakh units by the end of 2010.”
The company, which launched a new range of ACs, will be producing them at its joint venture plant in China and importing them in India. “Once we reach a scale to warrant manufacturing locally, we’ll take a decision accordingly,” Gupta said.
