Two farmers end lives

Two farmers committed suicide in the last 24 hours in the State.
Kempanna Ningappa Hanji (42) a resident of Iddalhonda in Belagavi taluk ended his life by consuming poison. He owned 1.5 acres of farmland and had sown potato for the second time during the current season. Potato seeds failed to germinate. He had availed a total Rs 2.5 lakh loan from various banks and had borrowed money from private persons also.

Nagaraj (50) ended his life by hanging himself from a tree in Harati village of Kolar taluk on Friday night. He had grown tomato on three and half acres of land. His wife had died 20 days ago. According to Suhas, the son of Nagaraj, his father was reeling under debts.
