Warrant issued against Lalit Modi

Last Updated 05 August 2015, 20:37 IST

A special court in Mumbai on Wednesday issued a non-bailable warrant (NBW) against former Indian Premier League (IPL) chief Lalit Modi on charges of money laundering.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) moved the special court seeking issuance of an NBW as Modi, who is based in the United Kingdom, has not responded to summonses. The NBW will be sent to the UK authorities through the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The special court, set up under Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) cases, had on Tuesday reserved its order after the hearings.
