Elephant calf killed in Maldare

The calf has got a bullet injury on its right side. It has been suspected that miscreants might have shot the calf when it tried to enter the plantation.

The Forest department personnel found the body while he was on his beat.

Learning the incident, DCF Kantharaj, ACF Alexander, forest officer Nanaiah, RFO Monnappa, Siddapur SI Ratan Singh visited the spot. The carcass was burnt there following post-mortem.

ACF Alexander said that investigations are on to trace out the culprits. It can be also remembered here that a new born elephant calf was found dead in Palibetta limits recently.
