A woman hanged her two children and herself to death at her house in Varthur police station limits on Sunday. The deceased are Asha (29) and her two children, Keerthana (10) and Lakshmi (7).

She took the extreme step as she was upset over the fact that she could not recover from an uterine disease, police said.

Asha had lost her mother when she was a young girl. She faced many problems in life after her mother passed away. She decided to kill her daughters and hang herself as she did not want them to suffer like her in her absence, police said.

Death note
In her death note, she said, “I am disappointed in life as I could not recover from an uterine disease. I was very young when I lost my mother. I faced several problems in her absence. My daughters would be orphans if I commit suicide. I don’t want them to suffer like me, in my absence. Hence, I have decided to take them with me.”

Asha, a native of Devagondanahalli in Hosur, Tamil Nadu, was married to Srinivasa Reddy, a farmer and a native of Sulikunte, about 12 years ago. She was staying with husband and children at Sulikunte. She had consulted a few doctors, but her disease was not cured, police said.
The woman’s relatives told the police that she had gone into depression and hence, decided to take the extreme step.

No response at home
The incident occurred when Reddy had gone to his farm. Asha hanged her children and herself from a ceiling fan. Reddy returned home at around 3 pm and the house was locked from inside. There was no response from inside when he repeatedly knocked the door. He opened the window and saw the hanging bodies, police said.
