Gender equality is a human right, but there is always a gap when it comes to accessing opportunities and decision-making power for women. Guaranteeing the rights of women and providing them opportunities to reach their full potential is critical, not only for attaining gender equality, but also for meeting a wide range of international development goals. Gender inequality in India is a multifaceted issue that concerns men and women alike.

This was exemplified when Delhi men got into the shoes of the ladies. At a recent event titled "Walk India in Her Shoes” held at The Mansion, men were seen walking the ramp wearing high heels.

“Walk India in Her Shoes” was an activity focusing on daily life of the women of today and men were seen living a usual day but in "heels".

Swati Mehrotra, founder Swati Modo footwear says, “We initiated this venture to raise voice for gender equality which is not only a woman’s right but a basic human right. We believe this is the most effective tool to bring development to our nation.” Starting with ‘Heelathon’ to a ramp show, the event also featured live performances by singers Suhail Zargar, Raas band and a dance performance by Vishal Sharma, of India’s Got Talent fame. The show kicks off the yearly marathon.
