Amandeep goes ahead, Vani second

Rookie Amandeep Drall fired a career-best round of six-under 65 to lead the field after second round of the 14th leg of Hero Women’s Professional Golf Tour 2015 at the Clover Greens here on Thursday.

The Panchkula professional finished with a total score of 135 to remain within striking distance of her second title. Three strokes behind is Delhi’s Vani Kapoor, who ended with a total of 138 in the Rs 5,00,000 event.

Amandeep, who began the day in third position, was in red-hot form and played a flawless front nine with four birdies on the 2nd, 4th, 7th and 9th holes. In the back nine, she carded three birdies on the 10th, 17th and 18th holes, with a lone blemish on the 11th.

Order of Merit leader Vani started well, playing a bogey-free front nine with birdies on the 5th and 7th holes. However, she dropped four shots on the 10th, 16th,17th and 18th holes, with a lone birdie on the 15th. She returned a card of one over 72.

Kolkata’s Neha Tripathi is in third position with a total score of 139. Sharmila Nicollet, meanwhile, could not replicate her day one form and returned with a score of two over 73 to be placed fourth with a total of 141 after 36 holes.

Pune’s Shweta Galande is in fifth position with a total of 147, while Delhi’s Gauri Monga came up with an effort of two over 73 to be placed sixth after two rounds.

Kapurthala’s Gursimar Badwal is in seventh position with a total of 149, followed by Delhi’s Ankita Tiwana at 150. Afshan Fatima of Jaipur and amateur Trisha Sunil of Bengaluru are in tied ninth position with identical totals of 153.
