A thrilling affair on the cards

A thrilling affair on the cards

It is time for once again for action with the fourth and final Major of the year, The PGA Championship at Whistling Straits. I was there at Valhalla last year for my first PGA and I was not at my best and missed the cut. So I am quite keen on making up not only for that but also for a lot of other things that are dependent on this week, as also the next few events.

I have a new money clip, courtesy the Long Drive Competition. This is something I am going to cherish all my life and it does give me a good boost for the week. I have now been at a few Majors – all four this year – and you can sense the buzz when the ‘big’ one comes. That’s what it is all about on the golf circuit – the Majors. I have enjoyed my debut appearances at the Masters and US Open, I made the cut at the former and missed at the latter.

This year I have been on a whole lot of new courses and events and have grown in golf virtually by the day.  But when it comes to Majors, barring the Masters, we move to different courses and come back to them only after a few years. That’s why when this year’s PGA is being written about, we also get to hear about Whistling Straits from 2010. There are quite a few players in this field who played it then and some played it even earlier when the PGA came here for the first time in 2004. So, I am doing my first appearances at various Major courses, even though it is my second PGA Championships.

It is important for me do well here, because I look forward to play more on PGA Tour in the future and these are the chances that I need to grab. Also, I need to keep and eye on President’s Cup positions, and of course this will also help my position on the Race to Dubai, as I am going to miss a few events when I try and make the PGA card through Web.com Tour final series.

So, all in all, an interesting week is on the cards and the if the past few Majors are anything to go by the PGA Championships is going to be another thrilling affair.
