Mohammed Chaudhary, a diploma holder in medical laboratory technology and who runs a pathology testing centre at Bainganwadi, was arrested near his residence at Govandi on Wednesday based on his wife’s complaint.

According to the police, Chaudhary had first sexually assaulted his 14-year-old daughter on January 21 when his wife was at the lab, and their two sons, aged 10 and 15, were at school.

Finding something amiss when she returned home in the evening, the complainant asked her daughter what had happened following which the victim disclosed that she had been sexually assaulted by her father, the police said.

When the shocked woman confronted her husband, he denied the charge and beat her up. Chaudhary also confined the victim for three days and repeatedly raped her.
Fearing social stigma, the complainant remained silent about the incident for three days, but reported the matter to police after discussing it with close relatives.
Police sources reveal Chaudhary had been arrested earlier for allegedly killing a man whom he suspected of having a love affair with his second wife. But he was acquitted by a local court in 2009 after a witness turned hostile.
