The Glass House on Lavelle Road serves ‘inspired cuisine’ which amalgamates ‘international culinary trends’ with a new style of cooking. The restaurant offers a unique blend of ingredients in an array of innovative creations. The chefs at the restaurant make a conscious effort to procure and use fresh vegetables and meats.
The menu has been redesigned to introduce more flavourful dishes and those that also sit easy with the Indian palate. Some of the new dishes include the ‘Cochin crab ravioli’ which comprises shaved fennel, petit greens and tomato coriander butter. You could also dig into the ‘grilled tamarind chili Coimbatore pork chops’, which is tastefully paired with steamed ‘sannas’, bok choy and date jus.
Talking about the menu redesign, Indrajit Raha, General Manager of ‘The Glass House’ and ‘City Bar’, says that a lot of meat-based dishes, soups and desserts have been added. “We have also tried to use a lot of ingredients available down South. This is to introduce a soft taste and have more Indians walk into our restaurant to try out the dishes,” explains Indrajit.
There are also a host of other dishes that one can try out such as the ‘spicy Goan chorizo burger’, which comes with aged cheddar, fried egg and pineapple marmalade served with house salad and fries. The dessert section is most enticing with interesting variations like the ‘Irish whiskey parfait’ that has homemade fennel ice cream, caramel glaze and star anise air. The ‘caramelized peach tarte tatin’ with honey ginger ice cream, rosemary caramel glaze, crème fresh and wine stewed blue berries is also an interesting spread. The Glass House is located at No 25/2, Lavelle Road. The restaurant is open between 11 am and 11 pm. For details, call 65419999.
