A true blue treat

Last Updated 21 August 2015, 18:26 IST

After a long day of work, what can be more refreshing than some good food with a glass of wine? Providing this perfect mix in a quirky ‘dhaba’ style ambience is ‘The Table Blue’, a rooftop cafe. As one steps into the restaurant, every little thing about it catches one’s attention — be it the wooden tables paired with white wooden chairs; the blackboard with colourful sketches, the brick-wall partition between the kitchen and the seating area; the single blue table placed on a bicycle or the brand new bicycle decorated with lights hanging from the brick wall.

It is not just the cool breeze from the surrounding trees and the ambience that excite the visitors. Their joy is doubled when they get the platter of food that they have ordered. There is an equal choice for both vegetarian and non-vegetarians. With a variety of starters to opt from, one can go for ‘chicken souvlaki with mint tzatziki’, ‘cajun chicken finger with mustard mayo’, ‘Spanish meatball’ to name a few. For those who are a fan of potatoes, nothing can beat their ‘table blue mezze’ — perfectly fried potato wedges served with hummus, tzatziki and garlic toast. The fattoush, served along with the wedges, however is disappointing as it lacks the main ingredient — pita bread. Also, the bread in bruschetta lacks a little flavour but the other dishes make up for it. ‘Desi style fried burgers’, ‘superstar burgers’ and a variety of sandwiches can make for a quick and filling meal.

The restaurant also has a variety of tasty and creamy salads, among which the ‘Greek salad table blue style’ tops the list. The soups, like ‘cream mushroom with almond flakes’ and ‘seafood chowder’, are highly sought-after too. For the main course, one can go for ‘rosemary infused chicken breast with creamy mushroom sauce’, pastas and risotto. The desserts include ‘kullad mango pannacotta’ and ‘muffin with chantilly cream’.

While the waiters might take a little while to get your orders right, the owner-cum-chef Srinivas Munibyrappa never fails to have a chat with his customers and get their feedback. The place is situated opposite Biba, Wills Lifestyle building, 100 Feet Road, Indiranagar.
