Elderly woman robbed

Shanthamma (65) told police that the incident took place when she was sitting alone in her provision store.

The suspects told her they were starting a new business from Monday and offered her Rs 200. They requested her to remove her bangles, touch the notes with them as blessings and return the money. Shanthamma removed the bangles and did as told. The suspects started a conversation with her, took bangles and fled.

Chain snatched

In another incident on Monday evening, two unidentified persons robbed a homemaker of gold chains right in front of her house at Shivanalli in Basaveshwaranagar.

The incident took place at 4.30 pm when the victim, Subbalakshmi, was standing near her house gate along with her two-year-old granddaughter.

The suspects stopped the bike near the house. One of them got down, snatched her chains, got onto the bike and fled.

Cop in Lokayukta net

A police inspector attached to Jalahalli traffic police station, Yeshwantpur Zone, has been arrested by the Lokayukta.

Sources said, Inspector Suresh had demanded a Rs-3,000 bribe to release a two-wheeler that had met with an accident. Arjun, a resident of New BEL Road and the owner of the vehicle, had complained to the Lokayukta.

House burgled

Thieves struck at a house in Peenya on Sunday and fled with jewellery worth Rs 2.50 lakh. The theft took place when Kevin Cherian, a resident of First Main HTM Layout in Nagasandra was away at a relative’s house. The thieves had removed the window grills to gain entry into the house.
