The BJP’s success in the BBMP elections is a shot in the arm for it ahead of Bihar Assembly polls.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP president Amit Shah tweeted to congratulate the leaders and workers for the “great BBMP election results”. The BJP has scored a hat trick, winning the civic polls in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and in Karnataka. Modi tweeted the BBMP results were a “win for politics of development and good governance”, hinting that people still preferred the BJP.

“Thank you Bengaluru! My gratitude to people & congratulations to Karnataka BJP leaders & workers for great BBMP election results,” he tweeted.

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley interpreted the outcome by saying “mindless negativity is counterproductive. This is the electorate’s message to the Congress after MP, Rajasthan and Bengaluru civic elections”.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister M Venkaiah Naidu said the result was a “lesson” for all that “negative politics is not going to yield” since the BJP won in the IT hub of Karnataka though the State is ruled by the Congress.

Though the civic polls results don’t offer a sense of people’s mind since votes are polled on municipal issues, the BJP has been drumming it up to keep its cadre’s moral high to face a the Bihar polls later this year.
