A caste panchayat ‘banished’ a couple in Uttar Pradesh’s Agra district after their alleged sex video went viral on social networking sites.

According to reports, the panchayat, which deliberated on the matter a couple of days ago after the matter came to light, directed the families of the couple to immediately leave the locality as the act had brought a bad name to residents of the area.
Reports said the family of the youth had already left Nai ki Mandi locality while the girl’s family had sought a few days time to relocate.

According to sources, the video of the couple, both lovers, that allegedly showed them in a compromising state, had gone viral on social networking sites a few days ago.
It was not immediately clear as to who had prepared the video and how was it leaked. Sources claimed that the couple had themselves prepared the video just for fun.

Extortion

Sources said that a third person, who was said to be the ex-lover of the elder sister of the girl, had stolen the cell phone of the youth, which contained the video and demanded Rs 5 lakh for not uploading it on websites.

He uploaded the video after he was not paid the money, sources said. The third person, who was yet to be identified, befriended the youth and then stole the cell phone.

Sources said he wanted to take revenge against the girl’s elder sister as she had lodged a complaint of molestation against him, following which he was arrested.

Reports said the local police were informed about the matter but they refused to interfere and asked the community members to resolve it themselves.

“Their (couple) continuance in the locality will have a bad effect on youngsters and hence they have been banished,” said one of the panchayat members.
