Angry at friend's complaint to parents, man kills him

A man was so incensed by his friend’s complaint to his parents about his waywardness that he killed him.

On Monday night, Deepak, 22, a student from Mangammanapalya, Madiwala, and his neighbour, Doddanna, got drunk and fought over a trivial matter. Other friends who were with them intervened. Deepak, who was more educated among the lot, had the habit of advising others on good behaviour. Upset by the way Doddanna had behaved, he met his parents and told them that their son was keeping bad company. He urged them to rein him in, the police said.

Doddanna’s parents took Deepak’s warning seriously. They called Doddanna and asked him to behave himself. Doddanna got to know what Deepak had told his parents. He was so incensed he vowed to teach him a lesson. He called him up and said they should meet. When Deepak turned up, Doddanna pounced on him, stabbing him in the neck. Deepak got a gash and Doddanna fled the spot.

Deepak’s shrieks drew neighbours who took him to a hospital. But he didn’t respond to treatment and died on Wednesday morning, the police said. The Madiwala police have registered a case and are looking for Doddanna.

Youth stabbed to death

A man was stabbed by death by unidentified men near Peenya main road on Monday night, the police said.

Praveen, 24, a resident of Neelasandra, was returning from Manjunath Nagar in Peenya when the killers pounced on him and fatally stabbed him before running away. Hearing his shrieks, local residents rushed to his aid and then called the police. Police arrived at the spot and took a bleeding Praveen to a hospital but he had died by then.

Police said the deceased, who was a native of Mandya, had gone to Manjunath Nagar along with his friends on some personal errand. He worked at a private firm. They are questioning his friends and suspect that personal rivalry was the motive for the murder.
