Two men out of five who involved in firing and throwing beer bottles at a businessman’s house in east Delhi’s Geeta Colony on Wednesday were arrested on Friday night, police said.

Police also recovered a pistol allegedly used by them in the incident.

Harpreet Singh, 29 and Naresh, 27, were arrested on Friday night in Geeta Colony, police said.

During interrogation, they revealed that they had given more than Rs 2 lakh to businessman Ajay Mehta as loan but despite their repeated requests he hadn’t paid them back.

After Mehta continuous refusal, the two men along with their three partners planned to scare the complainant by firing bullets in air near his house, police said.
Aam Aadmi Party MLA S K Bagga also lives close by.

“Ajay Mehta had opened a restaurant in Noida and for that purpose he borrowed more than Rs 20 lakh from different persons in Geeta Colony,’’ said a police officer.

“His restaurant could not succeed and he had to close it down after a few months. The people from whom he had borrowed money were demanding their money back but he could not return the money,” the officer added.

Police have identified the remaining three accused and are looking for them.
A pistol, a live cartridge, a car and a scooter used in the crime have been recovered from the arrested men.
