Hoardings sprout everywhere, violating BBMP resolution

In utter disregard for the resolution passed by the previous BBMP council to ban all kinds of hoardings, the newly elected corporators and their supporters have flooded many areas of the City with flexes and banners thanking voters and congratulating the winners.

Corporators and their supporters have not spared even government buildings and hospitals, which are sporting such billboards in some places. Incidentally, most of the hoardings have been put up by the supporters of the BJP which won 100 of the 198 wards.

Leading the pack is the senior most corporator and former mayor B S Sathyanarayana (BJP), who has been elected for the fifth consecutive term from the Basavanagudi ward. Sathyanarayana has put up hoardings at prominent places in his ward, including one at  BBMP hospital in N R Colony.

R V Yuvaraj (Congress), who has been elected for the first time from Sudhamanagar ward, and his supporters have put up several hoardings at Minerva Circle and on the buildings dotting JC Road. A thanksgiving hoarding has ben erected even on the compound of the Ravindra Kalakshetra. Yuvaraj is the son of R V Devaraj, the Congress MLA from Chickpet. Billboards thanking voters, installed by the victorious the BJP candidate from VV Puram ward in Chickpet Assembly constituency, were spotted at many places in and around Sajjanrao Circle.

In Padmanabhanagar Assembly constituency, many hoardings have come up in Yediyur ward from where Poornima Ramesh (BJP) has been elected. She is the wife of N R Ramesh, former ruling party leader in the BBMP Council.

In Rajararajeshwarinagar ward, Congress candidate H V Mamatha, though lost the elections, has placed a couple of hoardings thanking voters for supporting her. Another unsuccessful Congress candidate, L Nithyananda Prabhu from Kadu Malleswara ward, too has put up a similar hoarding in Kodandaramapura.

In Jayanagar Assembly constituency, where BJP won six of the seven wards, huge hoardings with the photos of all the newly elected corporators have been displayed at many places. Not surprisingly, the photographs of the husbands of the victorious women candidates occupy a prominent place in the hoardings.

In Bengaluru East areas, flexes put up by JD(S) and Congress corporators were seen on Tannery Road and interior areas of Pulakeshinagar. Hoardings of the Kavalabyrasandra ward corporator Netra Narayan (JD-S) were seen in RT Nagar.

The JD(S) and Congress have won many wards in Pulakeshinagar and Sarvagnanagar Assembly constituencies. Flexes of BJP were seen at a couple of points on CMH Road in Ulsoor.
