SMS help for sericulturists

Those who register for the service will get daily update on price of silk in markets, weather forecast and sericulture related information through SMSes. Sericulture Minister Venkataramanappa launched the service in Bangalore.

Thomson Reuters Market Light, a subsidiary of Thomson Reuters, will offer the service. Farmers, those willing to enjoy the benefit have to purchase coupons worth Rs 600 for a year or Rs 300 for six months. They get updates from silk markets in Ramanagara, Shidlaghatta, Vijayapura, Kollegal, Kanakapura, Chintamani and Channapatna. The farmers will get daily four messages.
