Cong changes Gujarat HQ; says it's Vastu-compliant

Hoping for a turnaround, Gujarat Congress is planning to shift its headquarters in the state after being in its current premises for 28 years.

“There is an element of truth in the news that we are shifting our headquarters in Gujarat from this Saturday,” one of the party spokesperson said. “It will be a four-storied building in Memnagar area of Western Ahmedabad.” Congress party currently functions from Rajiv Gandhi Bhavan in Paldi area off main Ashram Road, a building it occupied in 1987. The party renovated the building in 2006.

While it owns its existing headquarters, it had taken the new premises on rent.  Since the state’s formation in 1960, Gujarat had Congress Chief Ministers until 1995 when Keshubhai Patel became the first BJP chief minister. Since then, Congress has been struggling to win significant number of seats in an Assembly where it had as many as 149 members.  These days, the party is struggling to gain a toehold in many local wards.

“The new building is Vastu-compliant as per the wishes of our current state president Bharatsinh Solanki. We hope that it will help bring luck, votes and enthuse our workers before forthcoming local body polls,” another Congress leader said.
