Japanese to back Chennai-Bengaluru Industrial Corridor

 Tamil Nadu Government on Friday said that Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) is carrying out a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the Chennai-Bengaluru Industrial Corridor (CBIC) project.

State Industries Minister P Thangamani said that the CBIC project will have an area spreading up to 75 kilometres both sides of the National Highway 46 passing through several districts including Vellore, Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur and Chennai.

“Many integrated special investment regions will be developed along the corridor”, he said, adding that these regions will be self-sustained industrial townships with world-class infrastructure, road and rail connectivity for freight movement to and from Chennai, Ennore and Kattupalli ports, and logistics hubs, reliable power and social infrastructure.

Stating that JICA is carrying out the DPR for the project, the minister said as part of this study, JICA has identified three industrial nodes.
