'She was only trying to threaten him'

A woman who tried to protect herself from her knife-wielding husband ended up stabbing him to death at their home at Kacharakanahalli in Banaswadi on Friday evening.

The police identified the deceased as Adimulam, 28, a native of Dharmapuri district in Tamil Nadu. He was married to Tamilarasi, 22, a native of Periyakurampatti, also from the same district, said the police.

“We took Tamilarsi into custody soon after the murder. She did not intend to kill her husband, but only tried to threaten him but ended up murdering him,” said a police officer.
Tamilarasi and her four-year-old daughter have been sent to a remand home considering the child’s age.

The couple settled in Benglauru a few years ago. Adimulam was a construction worker and Tamilarasi a homemaker. The couple used to fight often as Adimulam had taken to drink recently, added the police.

He returned home drunk on Friday at around 7.30 pm and picked a fight with his wife over a petty issue.

Tamilarsi grabbed a knife to defend herself after he attempted to attack her.  “Brandishing the knife, she warned him not to touch her, but Adimulam charged at her. She stabbed him accidentally only once but he started bleeding profusely,” said the police officer.

Tamilarasi rushed her husband to a nearby hospital with the help of a few neighbours, but doctors declared him dead on arrival, said the police.
