A 35-year-old man was found dead at a roundabout in central Delhi’s Ashoka Road on Monday. After initial probe, police suspect that he was killed by a friend over personal enmity. The victim’s head was also crushed with a stone to hide his identity, police said.

The deceased has been identified as Santosh. He lived with family at a JJ Colony in central Delhi and worked as a waiter with restaurants. Sources said the killer has been identified and raids are being conducted to nab him.

“Santosh was found lying near a fountain on a roundabout on Ashoka Road at 8.30 am,” said a police officer. The body was taken to Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital after a crime and forensic team inspected the spot.

During enquiry by local police, Santosh’s mother claimed that he had not returned home since Sunday evening.

Questioning of his friends has revealed that they had consumed alcohol late on Sunday.
On the basis of initial probe, a case under section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered with Parliament Street police station.

Santosh’s mother was taken to Parliament Street police station where she identified the body with the help of photographs.

The investigating officers have analysed the call data records of Santosh’s mobile phone to identify the killer. “No arrest has been made so far,” the officer added.
