Chintamani Municipality approves surplus budget

CMC allots Rs 10 lakh for economic development programmes

The CMC is expecting a revenue of Rs 22,24,46,000 and expenditure of Rs 21,40,94,000. A saving of Rs 2,10,36,000 has been shown including the opening balance of Rs 1,26,86,000 in the budget by CMC.

The budget session was presided over by CMC President Venkataramanaswamy and was attended by Dr M C Sudhakar, Municipal Commissioner Swamy and other officials. The 2009-10 budget was unanimously passed by the members.

According to the budget, the major revenue earners for the CMC are taxes and cess-Rs 80,00,000, water tax-Rs 32,00,000, Rs 1,00,00,000 in the form of deposit from the auctioning of IDSMT Commercial Complex, Rs 8,00,00,000 loan from World Bank, Rs 7.65 crore from 12th Finance Commission and various government grants, Rs 1.77 crore in the from electricity and water supply charges, Rs 1.65 crore from salary grants and with other smaller sources the CMC has projected Rs 22,24,46,000 as its earnings.

Expenditure break up

According to the budget CMC’s major expenditures are as follows: Civil works-Rs 8 crore, water supply scheme-Rs 3.6 crore, drainage-Rs 3 crore, towards salary account-Rs 1.65 crore, sanitation works-Rs 30 lakh, SWM-Rs 44.32 lakh, Rs 20 lakh towards the welfare of the economically backward minorities and backward classes, for construction of building and repair of pump house Rs 35 lakh has been allotted, a same amount (Rs 35 lakh) has also been allotted for purchase of furniture, Rs 25 lakh towards park development and an amount of Rs 2 crore has been set aside for miscellany. The total amount comes up to Rs 21,40,94,000.

Under civil works, an amount of Rs 5.85 crore has been sanctioned for road and footpath works, Rs 1 crore for drainage works and Rs 1.05 crore has been set aside for stone slabs and box drainage.

Water supply

Under water supply Rs 20 lakh has been allotted for sinking a borewell and Rs 50 lakh for pump motor and repair works. An amount of Rs 1.5 crore has set aside for laying of pipes. For erection of towers and machines Rs 80 lakh has been allotted.

CMC under 18 per cent grant scheme has allotted Rs 10 lakh for economic development programmes, Rs 10 lakh for educational programmes and Rs 5 lakh has been allotted for creating action plan.

Welfare fund

The break up of the Rs 20 lakh allotted to welfare of the economically backward minorities and backward classes is as follows; Rs 8 lakh for the economic development programmes, Rs 6 lakh towards educational programmes and Rs 6 lakh draft action plan was allotted for health programmes.
