A minor boy stabbed a 24-year-old youth to death over a petty issue in Srirampuram police limits on Monday afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Charan Kumar, 24, a resident of Saibaba Nagar in Srirampuram. The police have launched a search for the absconding boy.

According to the police, Charan Kumar was working as a labourer and was involved in four cases including vehicle thefts.

The suspect was Charan’s friend some time and was addicted to various habits. Charan had advised the boy to give up the habits, but the boy had ignored Charan’s suggestions, added the police.

Charan met the boy’s mother on Monday morning and complained that her son was addicted to vices.

The mother took her son to task after Charan’s complaints. The boy got angry and picked a fight with Charan, said the police.

The boy directed Charan to accompany him to his house and tell his mother that her son never indulged in any habits. Charan was drunk and refused to accompany him.

The boy took out a dagger and  repeatedly stabbed Charan who suffered injuries on his neck and abdomen, added the police.

The attack  took place around 1.30 pm and Charan was rushed to a nearby hospital. He failed to respond to the treatment and succumbed by evening, said the police.
