KPSC goof-up: Govt says it's not question paper leak

Last Updated 20 September 2015, 19:07 IST

The State government has begun an inquiry to ascertain the cause for the distribution of wrong question booklets to KAS aspirants who had appeared for the ongoing KPSC exams on Saturday.

“There was certainly an error while distributing the question booklets. We are conducting an inquiry to ascertain the cause for it,” Chief Secretary Kaushik Mukherjee told Deccan Herald on Sunday.

“There is absolutely no harm to candidates who are well prepared for the exams, but a few candidates are projecting the distribution of wrong question booklets as question paper leak. Though the invigilators distributed the wrong question booklets, they were not the ones set for the scheduled exams coming up in the next three days,” Mukherjee added.

Meanwhile, a section of the candidates claimed they received the same question booklets of General Studies Papers on Sunday that were wrongly issued on Saturday. “There were questions on special development plan and structure and organisation in public administration in the question booklets that were wrongly distributed on Saturday. The same questions were found in the question booklets of General Studies Paper-I and II on Sunday,” Girish H, a candidate, told Deccan Herald.

“Several other candidates told me that the questions they spotted in question booklets on Saturday were printed in the question booklets issued on Sunday,” he claimed.

When asked, Vasireddi Vijaya Jyothsna, Controller of Examination, KPSC, termed such claims as pure rumours.

The distribution of wrong question booklets did not have any impact on the exams for General Studies papers that were held on Sunday. “ There was absolutely no problem and the exams were conducted as per the schedule,” KPSC secretary Manoj Kumar Meena said.

A few students held protests in front of a few test centres in the City on Sunday. “We held protests prior to the scheduled start of the exams. We have decided to organise more protests on Monday and Tuesday before the start of the exams at various test centres urging the KPSC to stall the ongoing process so that exams can be conducted afresh,” Girish said.

He said that candidates would wage a legal battle if the KPSC failed to meet their demand.
