Chain snatchers have a field day

Even as police are using all strategies in their quiver to rein in chain snatchers, the perpetrators had a field day on Thursday. 

A total of three cases were registered in a span of seven hours, sending police personnel into a tizzy.

Ramamani, an elderly woman and resident of C and D Block in Kuvempunagar, was on foot along with her daughter-in-law Indira when a two-wheeler rider robbed the former of her gold chain weighing 90 grams. 

The duo had been to Maruti temple in Gangotri extension and were returning home when they were victimised around 7.35 pm.

The assailant who moved ahead of them took a U-turn after a distance and was waiting for them in the middle of the road, said a police. However, the only relief for the victim was, while she lost the chain, mangalsutra pendant remained intact with her.

A case has been registered

A few minutes earlier to this, similar incident was reported from Saraswatipuram police limits where a woman lost gold chain weighing 10 grams. 

Earlier in the day, around 1.30 pm, a teenage girl was relieved of her chain in Vijayanagar police limits. 

The victim was returning home after attending second PUC exams at 1.30 pm, when two youth on a motorcycle robbed her at Lakshmikanthanagar near Hebbal. The stolen valuable is weighed at 16 grams.
