How about an experience entailing storytelling and food tasting sessions while walking through the narrow lanes of the Walled City? The upcoming ‘Explore Delhi through Metro’ walk will have all this and much more to offer. Organised by India City Walks, the event will be a perfect blend of religion, food, chaos, history, modernity, tradition and commerce.

The walk has been organised for September 27, coinciding with the World Tourism Day.  “The event is conceptualised to showcase some of city sightseeing opportunities. As the theme of the world tourism day is ‘one billion tourists, one billion opportunities’ we would like the residents and visitors to come out and explore the city. The walk is focussed on exploring the city’s soul,” Sachin Bansal, chief explorer, India City Walks — an award-winning tourism initiative which connects travellers and locals with the city and showcase mélange of cultures, tells Metrolife.

The walk will include a Metro ride from Huda City Centre to the Chandni Chowk station from where people can enjoy the various things on offer at Chandni Chowk’s main street, Dariba Kalan (silver market), Kinari Bazaar (wedding market), Paranthe Wali Gali (lane of stuffed breads), Ballimaran, Ghalib's Haveli and Khari Baoli (spice
market). The tour will end at the Chandni Chowk Metro Station.

During the walk, the participants will also get to visit the Delhi Metro Museum at Patel Chowk and learn stories of the Metro from its inspection and designing to construction and operations. The walk, which would begin at 8 am costs
Rs 1,056 per person and is free for children up to 8 years. It would cost Rs 528 for
children aged between eight to 15 years.

“Delhi Metro has undertaken various activities to promote the city’s art and culture and this walk is an extension of the same initiative. We feel it is our responsibility to encourage such steps and partake in such events,” a Delhi Metro spokesperson tells Metrolife.
