Headquarters, Training Command, IAF paid homage to the martyrs of 1965 Air operations with a commemorative seminar on Indo-Pak war of 1965 in Bengaluru on Tuesday.

The Indo-Pak conflict of 1965 is a cornerstone in the annals of military history of the Indian sub-continent. During this war, for the first time, the Indian Air Force and Pakistan Air Force were engaged in full-scale Air operations. Air Warriors of the IAF were awarded three Maha Vir Chakras and 43 Vir Chakras for their exemplary acts of courage. September 2015 marks 50 years of the 1965 Indo-Pak War. The contribution of Air veterans who participated in this war was duly acknowledged by appropriately revisiting this historical event during the seminar.

The event commenced with a wreath laying ceremony at headquarters of Training Command War Memorial. This was followed by a seminar on “Indian Air Force Role in 1965 Indo-Pak War” in which few Air veterans recollected their role during war. The Air Force Band performed familiar battle tunes on the occasion.
