In a representation to the commission, PRO of the diocese has expressed disappointment over the treatment being given to the members of Christian community in spite of several representations and requests.

After the pre-planned attacks on September 14 and 15, 2008, “it was but natural for the members of our community to be on the defensive and feel prejudiced. There after repeatedly our churches and institutions are being targeted on one pretext or the other. Though the government has been assuring that the miscreants will be taken to task and necessary actions will be taken against them, we are still waiting to get justice and we still are clutching to the hope that justice will be done”, the representation states.

It claims that such incidents will only rekindle the feeling of bitterness and anguish lying dormant in the heart of the community members. The attacks have made them realise how vulnerable they are in their own land in the hands of a few fundamentalists, it states and adds that if not for the restraint exercised by the members of the community following the attacks, the story would have been different. “But we still stand by our policy of peace and brotherhood”, the representation claims.
It requests the Commission to direct the Government to provide the community with immediate proper protection and also to apprehend the people behind the attack.
