About 250 teachers who come under the planned division of the Taluk Panchayat and Zilla Panchayat have not received their salary for the last four months. “There is a rule that the salary must be credited by fifth of every month to the account of the employee. However, we teachers are not getting our salary for the last four months,” they said.

They said: “We have already held discussion with DDPI, Zilla Panchayat President Santhosh Kumar Bhandary, MLC Capt Ganesh Karnik. However, all our efforts were in vain. DDPI has already sent a proposal urging the release of the fund for the salary.

Speaking to Deccan Herald, Mangalore BEO Govinda Madiwala said “in Mangalore taluk, the government had released a fund of Rs 37 lakh under planned head for the payment of the salary of the teachers. However, during the recruitment, teachers with high basic (starting basic is Rs 8,825) have been recruited to the high schools.

As a result, the available fund meant for the payment of salary has been exhausted. We have already submitted a fresh proposal to the government seeking fund. Once the money is released, the teachers will get salary for four months together.”
