Majority of Indians find holidays important, says Kuoni-SOTC

 Holidays are certainly are on Indians’ priority list. Holidays have been rated higher than clothes and electronic gadgets according to a study by Kuoni-SOTC.

The study shows 96 per cent of the respondents believe that holidays are important, and everyone interviewed acknowledged that they needed a break.

With the planning entrusted upon travel planners, consideration of taking a holiday has increased manifold. While almost two out of three people consider holidays to be vital in their lives for rejuvenation and efficiency, a third consider holidays to be considerably important, according to the India Holiday Report 2015 by Kuoni-SOTC.

The study was conducted by Nielsen with a sample size of over 900 Indians across six cities — Mumbai, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Bengaluru and Chennai — between the ages of 25 years and 60 years. The study seeks to understand the mindset and behaviour of the Indian traveller towards holidays.

As far as Bengaluru City is concerned, holidays are third on the list in importance and is at par with cities like Delhi and Kolkata. In Bengaluru, 42 per cent of the respondents said that they holiday once a year while 29 per cent said that they holiday once every six months.

When it comes to the package structure, 41 per cent of the respondents preferred group packages, primarily because of cost and availability of Indian food while 21 per cent of them preferred personalised packages to seek privacy and a well-paced holiday as per their needs, the report said.
