Last Updated 25 September 2015, 21:01 IST

The State BJP is planning to counter the Ahinda plank of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah by holding a series of conventions in the coming weeks.

The party will hold district-level conventions from October 15 to November 5 to “expose the State government’s failure” to keep the budgetary promises made to reserved categories.

Speaking after holding a meeting of BJP dalit and OBC leaders, former deputy chief minister K S Eshwarappa said a majority of the schemes announced by Social Welfare department had not taken off even six months after the presentation of the State budget for 2015-16.

”The government should come out with a White Paper on the amount spent for social welfare schemes. Funds of Rs 3,025 crore earmarked for the welfare of SC/STs has remained unutilised last fiscal. It should be carried forward,” he said.

Earlier in the day, speaking to reporters, BJP State President Pralhad Joshi said the party will complete its internal elections by November-end this year. Elections from the mandal level to the State level will be held during the next two months. Party MLC M B Banuprakash has been appointed as the nodal election officer, Joshi said.

He reiterated that government convene a special session of the legislature immediately to discuss the drought scenario in the State. He blamed the government for failing to tackle the power crisis and drinking water shortage.
