On the eve of BJP’s second leg of Raitha Chaitanya Yatra in the State, top leaders of the party on Wednesday held a meeting with Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) functionaries to discuss strategies to take on the ruling Congress in the State.

According to the sources, it was decided in the meeting held at RSS headquarters Keshava Krupa in the City that the BJP should go all out against the ruling dispensation.

The second leg of the 11-day yatra, to address the farmers and hear their grievances, would commence from Ballari on Thursday. RSS functionaries told the BJP leaders to expose the failures of the State government in tackling the drought situation, sources said.

Speaking to reporters in the City, on the sidelines of the meeting, Union Law Minister D V Sadanananda Gowda said there was no need for Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to take another all-party delegation to New Delhi seeking the intervention of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in resolving the Kalasa-Banduri issue.

Comprehensive discussion
“We had comprehensive discussion with the prime minister when an all-party delegation met him on the same issue, last month. The onus is now on the chief minister to take up the issue with Maharashtra and Goa,” Gowda said.

BJP State president Pralhad Joshi condemned the attacks on processions taken out during immersion of Lord Ganesh idols in some parts of the State. He blamed the Home department for failing to take steps to prevent such attacks. He said a team of BJP leaders will visit Belagavi, Arabhavi, Bankapur, Dharwad and Mudhol to assess the ground situation.
