Children walk to create cancer awareness

Toddlers on Friday got a refreshing break from their school routine as they took part in a marathon to support a unique cause.

The children, between 5 and 17 years, took part in ‘Young Sprinters’ marathon to create an awareness among citizens about pediatric cancer. At least a 1,000 kids from various schools, like Glentree Academy, Delhi Public School, Navaprajna, Patel International School, among others, took part in the run. As many as 200 children from various orphanages also took part.

The marathon was flagged off from Inorbit Mall, Whitefield, and was held in two different groups. While a group of toddlers took part under the supervision of adults, with medical care and security arrangements, another batch of athletic enthusiasts from across the State, also participated for the 500 metre and 700 metre races, respectively.

The organisers, AssistHELP Foundation, announced the launch of Nirbhaya, a midnight dual run scheduled in the City on March 6. The run is being planned to support 5,000 under privileged female children. Minister for Health and Family Welfare Minister U T Khader, former IPS officer Kiran Bedi, actor Rannvijay Singh supported the event.
