Couple relieved of valuables in M'lore Yeshwanthpur train

Jayalakshmi and her husband Lohithaksha of Mangalore are the victims. The duo had boarded the train in Bangalore. Mysore railway police told Deccan Herald, the couple who were asleep in the sleeping coach of S6 bogie of the train were relieved of mangalsutra and gold chain worth Rs 50,000 and Rs 40,000 respectively near Yeliyur outer-signal near near Mandya around 11.15 pm. The two woke up all of a sudden and also raised an alarm.

Responding to the same, a few fellow passengers made a bid to chase the miscreant, but were forced to run for cover as the stones were hurled towards them. The passengers in the bogies had to close the windows to avoid from being hit. On investigation by the police, it was found that the emergency chain in S3 bogie had been pulled to stop the train,  the cops said.

In a similar incident, six women passengers had been relieved of their mangalsutras and gold chains worth Rs 1.80 lakh at the same spot a year ago.
