Intelligence inputs have warned of simmering tension after “panchayats” were held on Sunday by saffron leaders, including one by BJP legislator and Muzaffarnagar riots-accused Sangeet Som, at Bisara village in Greater Noida, where Md Akhlaq was lynched by a mob over rumours of eating beef.

Though the district administration has clamped section 144 at Bisara, both Som and a saffron outfit, Hindu Raksha Sena, managed to hold a “panchayat” in the village where they reportedly delivered provocative speeches.

“Those involved in cow slaughter are taken to state capital by plane.....Muzaffarnagar riot accused were also taken to Lucknow by plane by the state government,” Som said while addressing the panchayat at Bisara on Sunday.

Som accused the police of implicating innocent youths in false cases and warned of serious consequences. He also attacked the media for not highlighting the sufferings of the people from the other community.

Soon after Som’s departure, activists of Hindu Raksha Sena held a panchayat at the temple from where the announcement that beef was cooked at Akhlaq’s house had been made. The announcement had led to the gathering of a mob.

Sena chief Bhupendra Tomar also reportedly delivered a provocative speech and warned that those indulging in cow slaughter would not be “spared”.

Police sources here said there had been intelligence inputs that tension was simmering at Bisara and some adjoining villages in the area.
