Last Updated 06 October 2015, 19:00 IST

Two bike-borne miscreants opened fire at a jewellery shop, located on a main road, in Puttur on Tuesday night and fled the spot. No casualties were reported but windowpanes of the shop were shattered.

According to the police, the miscreants did not stop the bike but opened fire at Rajdhani Jewellers, owned by Thanaz, a native of Vittal, while on the move.

It is said that miscreants opened fire twice. Though they opened fire for the first time at around 8 pm, no one in the shop even realised it as the bullets reportedly hit the display board. However, when they returned after sometime and opened fire at the glass and when it shattered, everybody realised about the shootout.

Puttur police have registered a case and further investigations are on.
