CMC warns lodge owners against tax evasion

Officers conduct inspection following complaints b public

City Municipal Council president Muttaiah said that if the owners of lodges furnish false information to the CMC, with an intention to save taxe, stern action will be taken against them.

The CMC president conducted a sudden raid on Wednesday on the lodges.

He said the inspections were conduced following complaints by the public that some of the lodge owners have been paying considerably less tax to the CMC, showing less area such as two to three thousand feet, as against the actual area of four thousand feet.

“The owners will be made solely responsible for providing false information. The lodges should provide accurate information and should pay right amount of taxes to avoid stern action,” he added.

He further said that officials concerned have been directed to take appropriate action against those lodges where there is no adequate parking facility.

CMC Commissioner K Nagabhushan said, “Many owners in the city have violated the rules while constructing the lodges. Strict action will be taken against those which do not have licenses.”

He said a duration of one month is given to the owners to arrange for parking.

Legal action
The legal action will be initiated by the administration against the lodge owners who fail to take appropriate measures. The dues will be collected if it is found that the owners have provided wrong information about land and also the licenses will not be renewed and the lodges will be locked.
