South Africa eager for a clean sweep, says Miller

The final T20I between India and South Africa may be reduced to an inconsequential one after the Proteas took a 2-0 lead but the big-hitting David Miller said his side is aiming for a clean sweep and there won’t be any letdown in intensity from them.

“To be honest, it’s a great feeling to be coming to Kolkata 2-0 up in the series,” said Miller on the eve of the final game.

“As supposed to what is going to happen tomorrow, I’m not very sure. Maybe resting a few guys but I’ve got no idea about that as well. I think it will be massive (if we can win 3-0). We are 2-0 up and are determined to make it 3-0. Momentum and confidence is a big thing in international cricket. I think, our preparations have been really good. If you prepare well, obviously you go to the game with a lot of trust and confidence. We’ve been trying to tick all the boxes and hopefully we come out on top tomorrow.”

Miller has been a key performer for Kings XI Punjab in the IPL and the 26-year-old said the experience of playing the cash-rich tournament has helped his team immensely. “It makes a massive difference. We have come out on top against India. I think the IPL has helped not only the foreign players but the younger guys from India as well. It's an unbelievable tournament, it's given opportunity to a lot of players. It also definitely helped South Africa get used to the conditions in India. We are feeling a lot more at home.”

Two run outs — of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma — in the second game at Cuttack played a huge role in Proteas’ win and Miller said his team has always strived to be a world-class fielding unit. “In the build up to the series, we’ve been working really hard on our fielding. We pride ourselves in the field. It’s just looking at the venue and a day before the game we find out from where it’s easy to throw etc.”
