Labour Minister P T Parameshwar Naik has ordered suspension of Joint Director of Training Venkatram and Deputy Director of Training Siddalingappa Kuri on charges of aiding and abeting malpractice in examination held for Industrial Training Institute (ITI) course for 2014-15.

In a press meet held here on Sunday, the minister told reporters, “In a bid to aid the students in  exam malpractice, the officials have not subjected the answersheets to decoding system. I have ordered the principal secretary of Labour department to suspend the officials in question with immediate effect,” he said.

“I have taken note of a few private ITI colleges are involved in exam malpractice. Several private ITI colleges do not even hold classes regularly. They exact exorbitant fees from the students belonging to economically backward classes, make them write exam in ‘conducive environment’ and issue certificates, the minister said adding that online admission process will be implemented for private colleges from next academic year,” he said.

From the next academic year the ITI exams will be held under the supervision of deputy commissioner. The question papers will be under the control of Treasury department and the same will be sent to the colleges 10 minutes before the start of the exam, the minister explained.
