Bike rally held to mark World Mental Health Day

The Dharwad Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (Dimhans) had organised a bike rally in Bengaluru on Monday to mark the World Mental Health Day.

About 30 members from Dimhans rode from Dharwad on Sunday morning and reached National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (Nimhans) campus in Bengaluru on Monday.

Dr B N Raveesh, Director, Dimhans, said that they stopped by district hospitals in Haveri, Chitradurga, Davangere and spoke about mental health.

Lack of facilities
Speaking at a World Mental Health Day event in the City, J Arun Chakravarthy, Inspector General of Police (Central Range) said that many people suffering from mental illnesses were unable to get treatment due to lack of facilities or stigma.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr P Satish Chandra, In-charge Director, Nimhans said, “Mental health patients require care and love. By giving these their dignity will be restored.”
