Chief Minister responsible for Kalburgi's murder, not Modi: BJP

State BJP president Pralhad Joshi on Thursday said Chief Minister Siddaramaiah should be held responsible for Kannada scholar Prof M M Kalburgi’s murder and not Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Speaking to reporters after holding the State BJP core committee meeting, he said writers and intellectuals should protest against the Siddaramaiah government for not being able to arrest the culprits so far. The Centre has got nothing to do with the case, he said.

He said the party’s core committee had set October 19 as deadline for the State government to take action against those involved in the murder of a youth over the theft of cattle in Dakshina Kannada district recently. People belonging to a particular community murdered the man for trying to prevent the theft of cattle. But the government has tried to cover up the issue, he said.

If the government fails to take any action, the State BJP leaders will stage a protest in Dakshina Kannada on October 21, he warned.
