8-yr-old electrocuted in park

The deceased has been identified as Bindiya, a resident of Vijayanagar.

According to police, the incident occurred at Visvesvaraya Park in 14th cross, Vijayanagar.

While playing with her friends, she accidentally touched a live wire connected to a pumpset. She was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, but doctors declared her brought dead. She was a third standard student at Holy Angel’s School in Vijayanagar, added the police.

Two end lives

Yallappa (25), a garment worker, committed suicide by hanging from a ceiling at his Hongasandra residence in Madivala on Wednesday. He was working for Sai Garments. He was a native of Kumta. The reason for taking the extreme step is not known. In another incident, a 40-year-old man committed suicide by jumping in front of a running train, on Thursday. The body was recovered near Nagenahalli on Bangalore-Mysore track, Byappanahalli Railway police said.

Drowned in lake

A 60-year-old man accidentally slipped and drowned in Amruthalli lake in the wee hours of Thursday. The deceased Shankarappa Poojary, a native of Gulbarga, had come to City to visit his son. He met watery grave when he walked towards the lake to attend nature’s call.

Chain snatched

Three persons snatched a gold chain from a woman in Bagalagunte (Peenya), recently.

The victim, Bhagyalaxmi, a resident of MEI Layout, was walking down the road when three persons approached her in the guise of asking for address, and fled by snatching the chain worth Rs 50,000. Peenya police have registered a case.

Three auto drivers held

The City Market police have arrested three auto drivers, who were allegedly threatening and robbing passengers.

Manjunath (25), a resident of Herohalli Mahadeshwaranagar, Purushottam (21)from Jyothinagar, Magadi taluk and Raghu (19), a resident of Jyothipalya are the three arrested. A cash of Rs 3,000 and an auto has been confiscated from them.

Petrol tanker explodes

An empty tanker caught fire and exploded in Devanagundi near Devanahalli on Thursday afternoon. The incident occurred while a worker was welding the fuel tank of the vehicle.

The tanker caught fire due to the heat generated while welding, police said. No casualties have been reported.
