JOIN USSome experiments turn out to be good and at times, even better than expected. That’s what Vinay feels about his pizzeria ‘Vinny’s’ in Banashankari, that serves wood-fired pizzas and is frequented by several youngsters and families. The place takes its name from the owner’s nickname and incidentally, is also a popular Italian name.
“I’ve worked in the hospitality industry in the US. When I returned to Bengaluru two years back, I felt ‘pizza by the slice’, popular in America, would sell well here due to its affordability. Fortunately, the whole pizza has become a bigger hit,” says Vinny adding, “I decided to go with the brick oven (which is wood-fired) since it would impart a more authentic taste. I got one built and Vinny’s happened overnight.” The eatery has a laid-back ambience. It has an open kitchen, where one can see the thin-crust pizzas being made from scratch. One can customise their pizza (slice or 12 inches) with toppings like broccoli, jalapenos, mushroom, pineapple, bell pepper, green chillies, corn, onion, garlic, olives, tomato and chicken.
The good part is that they have managed to get the crust just right and the pizzas taste great and are reasonably priced. “It’s as fresh a pizza as you’d make at home,” says Vinny who supervises the preparations with his wife Rachna. The other items include Continental soups, nachos drizzled with cheese and an in-house salsa and veg lasagne. The pastas, in Arabiatta and Alfredo sauces, are worth trying. The mixed sauce is the perfect blend of the two sauces, though the cheese can be toned down a little. The chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream is light and delicious. And while you’re waiting for your food, you can hobnob with the two adorable Shih Tzus, ‘Dolce’ and ‘Fan Dough’, at this pet friendly place.
