"Quarantine authorities have detained a 30-year-old Indian sailor Kamal Pest at Alexandria fever hospital over the suspicion of contracting the A(H1N1) virus, raising the number of suspected cases to 101 in the country," Egyptian Health Ministry spokesperson Abdel Rahman Shahin said yesterday.

Of these, 100 cases have been tested negative for the virus so far by the testing laboratory.

Only case of Indian sailor was being under medical observation, he said, adding "Egypt was free of any swine flu cases till now."

In order to keep a check on passengers with swine flu infection entering Egypt, the government has installed thermal scanning cameras at various airports to measure the body temperature of passengers, Shahin added.

About 48 countries have officially reported 13,398 cases of swine flu, according to World Health Organisation's latest updates.
