Datta Mala Abhiyana passes off peacefully

The Datta Mala Abhiyana led by Sri Rama Sene passed off peacefully in Chikkamagaluru on Sunday.

At least 30 Naga sadhus from Ayodhya, along with hundreds of Sri Rama Sene workers wearing Datta Mala, took out a Shobha Yathre as a part of the Datta Mala Abhiyana in Chikkamagaluru. Later, they had the darshan of the Dattapaduke at the Inam Dattatreya Peetha.

The district administration had beefed up security to ensure that no untoward incidents occurred during the abhiyana.

Initially, the district administration did not allow the Naga sadhus to enter inside the sanctum sanctorum of the cave inside the Peetha. This forced the Naga sadhus and the Sri Rama Sene workers to stage a protest outside the entrance of the Inam Dattatreya Peetha. Bowing to pressure from protesters, the district administration allowed them to enter inside the cave and conduct the pooja to the Paduke.

In a public meeting after the Shobha Yatre, Sri Rama Sene national president Pramod Muthalik urged the State government to solve row over the Datta Peetha amicably.
