Bajaj unveils new Avenger models

Eyes 20,000 units per month

 Pune-based two-wheeler major Bajaj Auto is looking to quadraple its sales of Avenger with the launch of three new models on the Avenger platform.

“We have been working on the new Avengers for over an year now. Our expectations are that we will be able to sell approximately 20,000 units per month of the new Avengers,” Bajaj Auto motorcycle business president Eric Vas said.

We have increased our market share in the premium motorcycle market and are now looking at the leisure biking segment through the new models, Vas added.
Bajaj Auto currently sells around 4,000 units of Avenger per month.

Manufacturing capacity

The new Avenger range includes the Avenger 220 Cruise, the Street 220 and the Street 150. The Avenger range will be manufactured at the motorcycle plant in Chakan near Pune. The Avenger Cruise 220, and the Street 220 will both be priced at Rs 84,000 and the Street 150 at Rs 75,000 (all ex-showroom Delhi).

The company has a manufacturing capacity of 20,000 for the new Avengers.
The Avenger 220s come with Bajaj’s 220 cc DTSi engine to deliver 19 PS power and excellent low to mid-range grunt with torque of 17.5 Nm.

The bikes come with an oil cooler to help the hi-performance engine maintain engine oil temperature and viscosity irrespective of external riding conditions.

The Avenger 150 Street’s engine is a 150 cc DTSi, which has been completely revised for this bike. It delivers 14.5 PS of power and a torque of 12.5 Nm which is enhanced at low rpms.

According to Vas, the company is also open to exporting the new Avengers but not in the immediate short term.
